How To Make Belgian Liege Waffles

Belgian Liege Waffle

I LOVE Belgian liege waffles.

I mean… so much so, that once I was at a restaurant and I over heard someone ask what they were and I got so EXCITED that I leaned over, interrupted the waiter, and went on a rant about how good they are! 😍

Seriously,

if you like waffles,

even of you don’t like waffles,

YOU HAVE GOT TO TRY THESE!

They are a “breadier” form of waffle that is infused with pearl sugar, which is basically just big chunks of sugar. That doesn’t sound too appetizing to have chunks for sugar in your waffle, but when you put them in the waffle iron they get all caramelized and with the doughy sweet bread type waffle it just has this prefect soft yet crunchy dense texture and is like sweet and savory at the same time. 😋

They are good hot or cold and I usually top them with fresh made whipped cream and berries! Raspberries and Blueberries are my favorite but we only had Strawberries for this batch.

You can also have them for lunch or dinner.

If you want a definite winner winner chicken dinner type meal situation for you and your family just try adding some Fried Chicken Strips and Bacon, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

If it sounds weird and you’ve never had it, try it out and I KNOW You will thank me later.llus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

Instructions

Set up Bread Machine for custom HOME MADE Cycle

  • Press the course button to select HOME MADE.
  • Press CYCLE to change Preheat time. I do like 15 minutes to warm the milk/butter a bit, so press the TIME button until you get 15 minutes.
  • Press Cycle again to select KNEAD, then TIME button to select 6 minutes.
  • Press Cycle again to select RISE, then time to select 1:15.

Add the wet ingredients

  • Pour your Milk and Melted Butter into the baking pan

Add Dry Ingredients

  • Add Flour to baking pan evenly cover the top of liquid ingredients with the flour
  • add Brown Sugar, Salt, and dry yeast (keep the yeast seperate by forming a trough in the flour)

Start the Bread Machine

  • Press START/RESET to start the Cycle, keeping in mind you want to come back and interrupt the cycle after the dough is risen and before it goes to bake, so set a timer for 1:15

Turn off Bread Machine

  • Unplug the bread machine to turn in off and this is a good time to plug in your Waffle Iron to get it preheated.

Fold in Pearl Sugar

  • Grab out some dough and just fold in the Pearl Sugar. I just kind of rolled the dough in the pan to coat it with the pearls I was sprinkling on top.

Cook The Waffles

  • Grab out a fistful of dough and cook it on the waffle Iron, it helps to coat the waffle iron with some oil so they don't stick too much.
